We set aside test data the model never sees. Validation follows time: the model is tested on periods after the ones it learned from. Each model comes with its accuracy measured on the test data, so you can compare it with the method you use today.
After release, we look after both the solution and the results.
We compare live inputs and results with those seen in testing, and track the business measure agreed at the start. When inputs or results drift from testing, we retrain the model.
